Cajun Fiddler Honey is produced by urban honeybees deep in south Louisiana, where Cajun Fiddler Ann Vidrine has turned her attention from the music she grew up with to the hum of busy bees creating nature's perfect food--clear autumn-hued liquid raw honey.

Honey has been used since very early times in our history, some believe even before fire was used. It was used by the ancients as financial currency, as medicine (making
use of its antimicrobial properties), to make beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and as an embalming material for mummies. It was used to preserve fruit and in making bread and cakes, food offerings to the gods.

Up until 2009 it was believed there were no honeybees native to North America. Then a discovery was made in Nevada of a fossil recording a female worker bee that dated to at least 14 millions years ago. Today that honeybee is extinct. The honeybees here were brought from Europe, but their genomes trace the honeybee to Africa.
